1. Bushel.  A measure of capacity.
2. Shillings.  English currency.
3. Sod.  Pieces of earth with grass.
4. Maund.  A measure of weight.
5. Opium Trade. The smuggling of opium into China on a large scale in order to make its trade more profitable

Important Personalities 

1. Thomas Jefferson. American President during whose tenure white settlers had begun to move westwards in large numbers.
2. Cyrus McCormick. He invented the first mechanical reaper.
3. President Wilson. The US President whose famous saying to farmers was “Plant more wheat, wheat will win the war”.
4. Lin Ze-Xu. The Chinese Special Commissioner at Canton who was appalled at the effects of the opium trade on his people.
